The Shackles Are Undone

U2 - Windows In the Skies

My blog has been abandoned for what seem like "lightyears".
Anyway, while others got a week long of holidays, I got TWO weeks extended holidays. Not that I enjoyed it that much because I was HOSPITALISED. Yeap, that's right. So here's what happened... I came back from Scouts Camp and fell sick. Got a high fever, didn't recover and actually ended up in the Emergency Room. The infamous "ER". It was not much of a Big Deal cause' I only emmited because of my low blood/platelets count and the non-dropping fever. So, the doc just put me on drips and all I could do was wait. I emmited in SJMC cause' my insurance covers that hospital. Yes, thank God for insurance if not I might just have to sit at GH or UH and die. No, it wasn't that serious.

Oh right, I have not mentioned my diagnosed yet xD It's early stage of Dengue. Hasn't reached the danger stage where bleeding occurs YET. THANK GOD! But still had to stay at the ward for 4 days cause my blood count doesn't seem to rise until my mom literally forced me to drink "Bittergourd with Frog" soup. I DON'T CARE IF FROGS TASTES LIKE CHICKEN OKAY? My stomach is restricted to DOMESTIC ANIMALS ONLY. I had to drink it anyway, in order to discharge from the ward. But before that I had to sipped more than a teaspoon of stinky and bitter "papaya leaf juice". It was plain nasty but a miracle worker. My blood count then shot up from 80,000 to 115,000. How great was that? So, next time if any of your relatives who happen to be unlucky and gets bitten by a bloody motherf**ker *coughs* mosquito. So, anyway... I'm fine. Still alive *coughs* My doctor gave me one week's lift and I can't go back to school till next week. So, I had a week's extended holiday. "Yay"! Right... After what I've gone through... I wouldn't mind NOT getting that extra week by NOT falling sick.

That's my left hand. They inserted a tube into my hand. The needle was a thin strip of plastic which made a VERY PAINFUL entry into my hand.

That's the sodium drip.

Now, that's the GLUCOSE drip. Which explains why I've been kinda "high". Yes, I'm pretty sure it's Glucose and not MORPHINE!
So, here's what happened. On the early morning of the second day of my stay, this young nurse came in to replace my drip bag. She sorta pulled the tube and back-flow happened. Then, the drip couldn't work cause' the needle was out of place. SO, the nurse had to insert a new needle into my hand. I had to go through that excruciating pain all over AGAIN. And it had to be on the same hand (even though different position). "Thanks, nurse!"

Thankfully they did the second one securely!!! I have to say, the pain was indescribable. I wouldn't wanna go through that again. Now I've been there, done that. TWICE!

Now, this has been my hero for the past 4 days. It has an incredible nurse call button and it controls the LIGHT and the TV from my bed. Pretty cool huh... xD It sure is when you're stuck in bed!!!

Thankfully I could still watch football! They were repeats though... They had StarSports but no ESPN. Can you imagine?!

The time to remove The Tube came. And when it did, it wasn't pleasant. It couldn't stop bleeding immediately. The nurse had to put real PRESSURE to stop it from bleeding. What I mean is, she had to press my hand really hard for a few minutes while I sit there helplessly...feeling the pain... See that tiny dot above the bleeding one with the plaster? That's the first failed one.

I was so bored till I filled up my time decorating the hospital's serviette. I even created my own "airlines" logo. In case I ever have one of my own. Okay... Now I'm just crapping!!

Now, I practically look like a silly JUNKIE. Why? I have needle bruises around my arm. The lab staff comes in at 7am to draw blood for blood test every morning, disturbing my sleep. If you think that's privacy invasion, the nurses comes in and out of the room almost every 2 hours. They even wake me up at 5am just to take my temp and blood pressure.

One of the nurses came in and saw me in my Taman SEA Librarian t-shirt. So happen her brother's in Taman SEA too and he's the same age as I am. Small world. Couldn't remember the name she mentioned. xD Anyway, I just wanna say that being a Nurse is a very NOBLE job. I salute em'!

Well, alright alright. That's all. I know, it's so weird to have a pictured documentary about being hospitalised for Dengue. But I was extremely bored and couldn't move around so that's practically all that's left to do. Take pictures. xD Just an advice for ya'll. Whenever you're out camping, just listen to your Momma and bring along that bloody mosquito repelent okay?
